Where did the late, oddball, beat-poet extraordinaire Lord Buckley come from? ”He was a DJ in the '40s and '50s. He came before Lenny: a hip hep jazz monologuist who pre-date the beat generation. He was a cu|t Figure without a cult, leader of the underground before there was an underground. The poor guy operated in a vacuum. He worked the Ivar Theatre before it was a strip joint. A guy named Lyle Griffin brought me the records and we worked out a deal.”
